Snapchat ads in the UAE are the most direct paid route to Gulf nationals and young Arab residents aged 18 to 34, a group that is expensive to isolate on Instagram and patchy on TikTok. For a business whose customers include Emirati families, students or young professionals, a Snapchat campaign with the Snap Pixel installed, vertical creator-style video and a few thousand dirhams a month usually delivers cheaper reach than the same money on Meta, provided the offer and landing page are ready for a swipe-up.

- Snapchat reaches a UAE audience that skews Gulf national and 18 to 34, with daily use rather than occasional use.
- Install the Snap Pixel (and the Conversions API if you have a developer) before spending a dirham; without it you cannot optimise for sales or leads.
- Vertical, sound-on video of 5 to 15 seconds with a hook in the first two seconds is the format to start with; polished commercials usually underperform.
- In our experience UAE CPMs typically sit in the single digits to low twenties in AED, rising in Ramadan, Eid and the Dubai Shopping Festival.
- A realistic first test is AED 1,500 to 3,000 over three to four weeks; Silk Road manages Snapchat from AED 900 a month on budgets up to AED 3,000.
This guide is for owners and marketing managers of UAE businesses who have heard that Snapchat "works for Emiratis" but have never opened Ads Manager. It covers who you reach, the formats worth using, the setup steps, realistic costs, the creative that performs and how to judge whether it is working.
Who do Snapchat ads reach in the UAE?
Most UAE businesses put their paid budget into Meta first, TikTok second and never get to Snapchat. That is a habit inherited from Western marketing, not a reflection of how people here use their phones. In the Gulf, Snapchat is a daily messaging and stories app for a large share of nationals and Arab residents in their late teens, twenties and early thirties. Snap publishes its regional reach claims on its Snapchat for Business site; we do not quote percentages here because they change each quarter, so check the current ones before you present a plan.
What matters for a UAE business is who is under-served on the other platforms:
- Emirati and Gulf women aged 18 to 34, who are often private on Instagram but active on Snapchat stories
- University students in Sharjah, Al Ain and Abu Dhabi
- Young Emirati men who follow car, perfume, fashion and food accounts
- Arab families planning Eid, National Day and wedding purchases
If you sell perfume, abayas, café meals, car accessories, gym memberships or beauty services to that group, Snapchat deserves a line in your plan. If you sell B2B software to Dubai Marina offices, it does not. Our overview of which UAE platform fits which audience covers the rest of the map.
Which Snapchat ad formats should a UAE business use?
Snapchat Ads Manager offers more formats than most businesses need. Here is what each is for and which to start with.
| Format | What it is | Use it when | Start here? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single image or video ad | Full-screen vertical ad between stories, with a swipe-up | Sales, leads, traffic, app installs | Yes |
| Story ad | A branded tile in Discover that opens 3 to 20 snaps | Launches, lookbooks, menus | After the first test |
| Collection ad | Video with four tappable product tiles underneath | E-commerce with a catalogue | If you have a product feed |
| Dynamic ad | Automatically built from your catalogue, retargets browsers | Stores with 50 or more products | Once the pixel has data |
| AR lens or filter | Branded camera experience | Events, launches, malls | Special occasions only |
For a first campaign, single video ads are enough. They are cheap to produce, easy to test and work with every objective. The specification is simple: 9:16 vertical, 1080 by 1920 pixels, MP4 or MOV, sound on. In our experience anything beyond 15 seconds loses most viewers before the swipe-up.
How do you set up a Snapchat ad campaign step by step?
Step 1: Create a public profile and Ads Manager account
Your business needs a Snapchat account with a public profile (so people can follow you) and a Snapchat Ads Manager account linked to it. Use a company email, add a second admin, and choose the billing currency carefully; it cannot be changed later. The Snapchat Business Help Centre walks through the screens.
Step 2: Install the Snap Pixel
The Snap Pixel is a script placed on every page of your website. It records page views, add-to-carts, purchases and form submissions. For Shopify stores the Snapchat app installs it in a few clicks; for WordPress, your developer adds it through Google Tag Manager. Fire a test event and confirm it appears in Events Manager before you launch.
If you have a developer, add the Conversions API as well, so iPhone privacy settings and ad blockers do not hide half your results.
Step 3: Choose the objective honestly
Snapchat groups objectives into Awareness and Engagement, Traffic, Leads, App Promotion and Sales. Pick the one that matches what you would call a result:
- A clinic or salon that wants WhatsApp enquiries: Leads with a lead form, or Traffic to a page with a tracked WhatsApp button
- A perfume or fashion store: Sales, optimised for purchase
- A restaurant launching a new branch: Awareness for two weeks, then Traffic to the menu
Do not choose Awareness because it looks cheaper per thousand. Impressions that never turn into a visit are the most expensive thing you can buy.
Step 4: Build the audience
Start with geography, age and language. Snapchat targets by country, emirate and city, so a workshop in Sharjah Industrial Area can show ads only to people in Sharjah and the Dubai neighbourhoods a short drive away.
Then layer one of these:
- Predefined audiences based on interests and lifestyle categories (beauty, cars, food, luxury)
- Custom audiences from your pixel (site visitors in the last 30 days) or a customer list uploaded through Snap Audience Match
- Lookalike audiences built from your buyers once the pixel has a few hundred conversions
Keep the first test to two ad sets: one broad (location, age and language only) and one interest-based. The broad one often wins once the pixel has data.
What do Snapchat ads cost in the UAE?
Snapchat sells space in an auction, so nobody can quote you a rate card. What we can share is a hedged picture from UAE accounts.
| Measure | Typical range we see in the UAE | What pushes it up |
|---|---|---|
| CPM (cost per 1,000 impressions) | Roughly AED 5 to AED 25 | Narrow audiences, Ramadan, Eid, DSF, December |
| CPC (cost per swipe-up or click) | Under AED 1 to around AED 4 | Weak hook, long videos, English-only copy to Arabic audiences |
| Cost per lead (form or WhatsApp) | Low tens of dirhams to over AED 100 | Service price, form length, slow replies |
| Cost per purchase | Varies widely with basket size | Checkout friction, cash-on-delivery rules, shipping cost |
Treat these as planning ranges, not promises. Your first month will tell you where you sit. How much to put behind paid social overall is answered in our AED benchmarks for paid ads in the UAE.
Budget bands and the management fee
The ad budget goes from your card to Snapchat directly. If you hire Silk Road to manage the account, the fee is 30% of the monthly ad budget with a minimum of AED 900 per platform per month:
| Monthly Snapchat ad budget | Management fee (per month) |
|---|---|
| Up to AED 3,000 | AED 900 |
| Up to AED 5,000 | AED 1,500 |
| Up to AED 10,000 | AED 3,000 |
| Up to AED 20,000 | AED 6,000 |
Fees are listed in full on the media buying page. A sensible first test for a small business is AED 1,500 to 3,000 in ad spend over three to four weeks, which keeps the management fee at the minimum while giving the platform enough conversions to learn from.
What creative works on Snapchat in the UAE?
Snapchat is the one platform where a glossy commercial is a disadvantage. Ads appear between friends' stories, and the creative that holds a moving thumb looks like something a friend would post.
Rules of thumb from our shoots:
- Open on the product or the result within two seconds. A perfume brand in Al Majaz should start with the bottle being sprayed, not with a logo.
- Show a face and a voice. A team member talking to camera in Gulf Arabic beats a text overlay on stock footage.
- Keep it to 5 to 15 seconds, then state the swipe-up clearly: "Swipe up to book", "اسحب للأعلى للطلب".
- Write Arabic first for Gulf audiences. Do not run machine-translated Arabic; people notice.
- Put the price or offer on screen. Vague "discover more" ads cost more per result.
- Refresh creative every two to three weeks; frequency climbs fast because the audience is smaller than Meta's.
Three to five variants is the right number for a first test: two hooks, two offers, one length. If you do not have the footage, Silk Road's content creation service produces vertical ad sets for Snapchat and TikTok, and the Growth and Impact social media packages include a monthly shoot that can be planned around ad creative.
How do you measure Snapchat ads and scale what works?
Ads Manager shows impressions, swipe-ups, pixel conversions and cost per result. Look at three numbers after the first ten days:
- Cost per result against the ranges above and against your Meta campaign.
- Frequency. Above three or four per week, the ad is tired; rotate creative.
- Conversion rate on the landing page. If swipe-ups are cheap but nothing converts, the problem is the page, not the ad.
Snapchat, like every platform, counts generously, so track WhatsApp enquiries and sales in a sheet by source. Scale by raising the budget 20% to 30% every few days on the winning ad set, not by doubling it overnight, which resets learning. When cost per result climbs for a week, you have found the size of the audience for that offer.
Where does Snapchat fit next to Meta and TikTok?
Snapchat is rarely the only channel. For most UAE businesses it is the third platform, added once Meta is working and the creative pipeline exists:
- Meta for retargeting, lead forms and anyone over 35
- TikTok for discovery and creator content
- Snapchat for the young Gulf audience, Eid and National Day pushes, and local reach around a branch
The trade-offs between the first two are covered in Meta Ads vs TikTok Ads for UAE brands. Snapchat slots in beside whichever wins, usually at 15% to 30% of the paid budget. If you prefer one team to run all three, Silk Road's Snapchat ads management is priced on the same 30% band as Meta and TikTok, with a monthly report by channel.
The next step
Install the Snap Pixel this week, even if you do not plan to advertise for a month. Every visitor it records becomes an audience you can retarget and a seed for lookalikes, and it costs nothing. Once it has data, a three-week test with three vertical videos and AED 1,500 to 3,000 will tell you whether Snapchat belongs in your 2027 budget.
